Gift a Tree, Gift a Future.

According to The UNEP,

Trees absorb carbon dioxide and are vital carbon sinks. It is estimated that the world’s forests store 283 Gigatonnes of carbon in their biomass alone, and that carbon stored in forest biomass, deadwood, litter and soil together is roughly 50 per cent more than the carbon in the atmosphere.

Carbon in forest biomass decreased in Africa, Asia and South America in the period 1990–2005. For the world as a whole, carbon stocks in forest biomass decreased annually by 1.1 Gigatonne of carbon (equivalent to 4 billion 25kg sacks of charcoal).

The loss of natural forests around the world contributes more to global emissions each year than the transport sector. Curbing deforestation is a highly cost-effective way to reduce emissions. Other solutions include increased energy efficiency, reduced energy demand, better transport and the use of green energy.

people. It is projected to grow to 9 billion by 2042. The expansion of agricultural and industrial needs, population growth, poverty, landlessness and consumer demand are the major driving forces behind deforestation. Most deforestation is due to conversion of forests to agricultural land. Global removals of wood for timber and fuel amounted to 3.1 billion cubic metres in 2005.

Worldwide, deforestation continues at an alarming rate, about 13 million hectares per year, an area the size of Greece or Nicaragua. Africa and South America have the largest net loss of forests. In Africa it is estimated that nearly half othe forest loss was due to removal of wood fuel. Forests in Europe are expanding. Asia, which had a net loss in the 1990s, reported a net gain of forests in the past five years, primarily due to large-scale forestation in China.

Forest planting and the natural expansion of forests help to reduce the net loss of forests. The net change in forested area in the period 2000–2005 is estimated at 7.3 million hectares a year (an area about the size of Sierra Leone or Panama), down from 8.9 million hectares a year in the period 1990–2000.

After reading this, Every Human being should realise his responsibility and come forward to plant trees, but sadly nobody does so. So we decided to make this innovative.

Batti Bandh Campaigns

The Penguins are waking up, to find their homes in pools of water.

50 years from now, the Himalayan Glaciers will only exist in photos… and memories.

Rice lovers... Eat all you can. Rice yields could fall by 40% over TWO YEARS.

Ever spared a thought for what's causing all of this?

..Don't bother… It's US.

GLOBAL WARMING is a serious issue. ….But who's doing anything about it?

I could sit at home and prepare a random thesis on …Err.. Say how the 0.75% increase in thermal inertia could have negative results after 150,000 years.....!

But I know that by the time I'm done with that report, Mumbaikars will be struggling to stay afloat…

Well. I am sitting at home, and trying to make a difference . YOU can do the same.

Program Details

Batti Bandh is an entirely voluntary event taking place on the 15th of December between 7:30 & 8:30 p.m. This event is aimed at requesting all of Mumbai to stand up for a cause that is greater than all of us. YFi - Leadership development Initiative

Leadership development
" A Leader may be anyone, right from a sweeper to the person who is reading this.

A leader is a person who says that, I am not satisfied with Status Quo prevailing in the system. I m not satisfied with just being OKAY. I strive for excellence and work towards it "

" Leaders dont do different things, they do things differently" - Swami Chinmayananda

" Each one of us has a leader in him"

Youth Today, in India want to do 'something' to make a difference but cant decide what to do.

They basically need a movement that they can identify with.

YFi is that movement.

Every movement needs leaders, and history is a testimonial of that.

What differentiates failure from success is LEADERSHIP!

which is, unfortunately lacking in the india.

People want to do something but nobody is ready to take the initiative.

WHY?

On the other hand the youth want to take the initiative but are not given an opportunity coz they are still rookies!

We, As YFians, stand to change that.

WE MAY FAIL, BUT IF WE GET UP AND TRY AGAIN, THAT IS NOT CALLED A FAILURE.

That ability to get up and strive again for the goal, is what i feel has arrived in the youth of India.

So, Now we as YFIans want to give a chance to all those who think that they have what it takes to be a leader. Or even still, you are not sure about yourself but have that dedication in you can want to take the initiative.

YOU have an option. YFi is now going to start a program of Leadership Training and We are going to create a team of leaders who are going to have a greater role in the decision making of the country in the future.

" Leaders are not those who have a list of the achievements during their lifetime, but those who even they leave, people say that We did this ourselves" - A chineese saying

Leadership is about empowering others to come forward and take charge.

Aim

It is going to be a program where we are aiming to create a team of young minds who can be potential leaders of tomorrow.

How will we do it?

We will be doing various activities in this which will enhance your personality and will test your ability in every sphere. It is going to be a challenging, learning and a fun experience. Participants will learn a lot from it.

In the end there will be no winner or loser but those who see a leader in themselves will find a better change in them, with better concepts, better understanding of leadership, and a more mature outlook towards life.

It will be mainly be a online program and you will need a voice conferencing facility. [ yahoo messenger will do]

We will also introduce all the participants to each other once we get all the interested ones.

If you have any other doubts, you can mail us at

Starting Date for this year 3 March, 2008

Save Yamuna Campaign

The government is building the Commonwealth Games Village for the Games in 2010, on the Riverbed of Yamuna, the life line of Delhi.

So what is the problem?

According to the Ministry of Environment,
If the Games Village is build on the River bed of Yamuna, then Yamuna will dry up by 2013 and so will the city of Delhi

Why are we destroying a city for an event of 9 days?

Why is the government turning a blind eye to all the ministry Reports?

Why is the construction still going on?

Do we give more importance to Money over Human Life?

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS???

No, It is not the government but it is YOU! Coz Even after knowing all this, YOU are sitting at your home and doing nothing.

It is not only the fight for Yamuna, BUT IT IS THE BATTLE OF OUR SURVIVAL

For how long will the Government keep its self interest before the Plight of the Common Man!

Come Lets join Hands to stand up for ourselves and say that WE WANT CHANGE and WE SHALL BE THAT CHANGE.

We have a voice and we have to use it! NOW!

खेल गाँव भी कहाँ टिकेगा, रेत के अंदर पानी हैं!

What has been the progress?

Now there has come a stay order on all the allied construction activities of the commonwealth Games by the Hon Court. Although The main Games project is still under construction at the same site.
